Nice large space which can have an intimate casual atmosphere in the evening and a grander more formal vibe during the day. At little more pricey than some of the other nearby pubs but The Banyers presents itself as an up market venue so I guess that's to be expected. I've enjoyed food here with my partner, and although the food service was very slow it was very tasty. Chalking that one experience up to a new employee learning the ropes as I've never had an issue with their bar staff. Tonight's visit was nice and chilled, and got to keep warm next to a fireplace which was appreciated!
We went for coffee and cake. The venue is lovely, the coffee was nice and hot but they let themselves down when we went to pay. We waited for ages. They made no attempt to acknowledge we were waiting and the person in charge avoided eye contact. I appreciate they were short staffed but a simple apology only takes a second and would have got them a good review!
We have dined here a few times and both the food and service have been perfectly fine. Whilst everyone has off days - birthday dinners are sacrosanct and after sitting through a painful 3hrs, I wont be returning. There are too many restaurants competing these days to tolerate bad experiences - Im sure others have had a great time/ food and I wish them well.
Fabulous breakfast, lovely friendly staff, good prices.... Beautiful building... What more do you want?
Never stayed here, but as an airport transfer driver I've taken many customers here. Never heard a bad review, it certainly looks nice from an outside perspective. 3 stars simply because any higher would require me to have actually stayed, and is based solely on reviews by my customers so don't let out put you off.
